A Bit About Me
I am a graduate from the Industrial Design program at Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Colorado native. I focused a lot of my studies at MSU Denver on furniture design and really fell in love with design through furniture.
Right out of school I worked for a couple of small furniture design companies and spent a lot of time in the woodshop building custom pieces. I wanted to be hands-on with the manufacturing process so that I could better understand why certain design decisions are made. I feel that I am a more effective designer because of this experience working closely with custom furniture makers.
For the past year I have occupied the exhibit design space in Springfield, Virginia. This has been a really interesting experience that has pushed me outside of my comfort zone in many ways. I have learned more about structural integrity when designing weight-bearing elements. I have learned a lot about how to work with branding and ensure that you are using the companies brand properly and to your advantage. I am grateful to have stepped inside a design space that was alien to me because I have taken a lot from the experience.
I am always evolving and looking to learn new skills in order to keep myself multi-faceted. Mixing materials in unexpected ways and helping them shine cohesively is one of my favorite design languages. I can’t wait to see where my passions take me next!
